Orange is the new black ~2

Hellooo all you lovely people! πŸ™‚ how has your week been so far? My week…erm…let’s just say the lesser said the better. πŸ˜›
So as part two of my four part series I bring to you my second orange look πŸ˜€

So I bought this top from an Indian shop called “AND” a few months ago and the place I was going to this weekend seemed fun enough to release it πŸ™‚ I tried a small mix-&-match, so I paired the halter neck top with something as traditional as the jhumka.
The jhumka is a traditional Indian earring worn by ladies for festivities and occasions. While it comes in various shapes, sizes and materials these days, they were originally made out of precious metals like gold and silver.
Coming back, so the current rage in my city is jhumkas made out of terracotta. When such adorable trends come by, why won’t I binge? Ofcourse I did πŸ˜€

image

They look pretty, yah? πŸ˜€
I kept the rest of the look simple. Since this blouse was pretty long, it covered my er..rather large behind πŸ˜› so I chucked my jeans and wore it with a pair of super-comfy black above-the-ankle tights. These are truly the all purpose, fully exploited piece of clothing I own. Gym? Work? Casual outing? Shopping? I wear these tights every-frikkin-where. LoL.
The footwear was also pretty toned down. Wore these beautiful nude pumps I bought a while ago.

I love love luuurrvvee the cut work on these shoes πŸ˜€

Oh oh oh..and while we are at it, since my watch happened to match so beautifully with the look I thought why not show you guys that as well!

This fossil is one of my prized possessions πŸ™‚ first gift to myself from my salary type of special!!! Its pink mother of pearl dial goes so well with any shade of pink, orange and red.

So what do you guys think? What would you pair halternecks with? Do tell me ❀

Mid week inspiration!

When I sang “count your many blessings name them one by one, then you will be surprised what the lord hath done” in my fifth grade I never understood the meaning of that verse in its truest sense. Now I’m older and wiser (?) and there is so much truth to that line which hits me each time I hum those lines. πŸ™‚
I counted my blessings and today I’m thankful and grateful for –
– Who I am and what I’ve turned out to be.
– The family I’ve been blessed with
– Getting to work with the most wonderful people in my current job and the previous one.
– The lovely friends I’m surrounded with.
– The comfortable peaceful trouble free life I’ve been able to lead thanks to my parents again.
– The professional degree I was able to finish with flying colors
– The fact that I had the courage to start and sustain this blog πŸ™‚
– (most importantly) falling head over heels in love with the most amazing, loving and caring guy in the world! πŸ™‚

While I have counted and listed my major blessings I can at this very moment think of a million tiny everyday joys I’m happy and feel blessed about.
This is such a happy and positive vibe generating exercise which you guys must try πŸ™‚ and maybe list down your blessings as comments on this post? πŸ˜€

Orange is the new black! ~1

I’ve recently been stocking up too much of orange wear. Tell me, is it like in trend or something? Then my subconscious probably knows that and hence this orange overdose. πŸ˜› so here is the first of four posts I’m going to do about my orange-craze. πŸ˜€

This first shirt is a tie-waist button-up type which I bought while street shopping. I thought it looked really cute with its white flowers and frills. Paired it with rose earrings and a really cool pair of pumps my friend once gifted me πŸ˜€

One more award? Hell YA!! :D

Hi folks!

download-19

I’m so excited about the fact that I got nominated for a second award and that’s not even the best part. I got nominated by a blogger whom I look up to because she is so versatile in her writing and reading her blog is such an inspiration in itself. Thank you for nominating me for the “One Lovely Blog” awardΒ http://mommyx4boys.wordpress.com/Β πŸ˜€

These are theΒ fewΒ rules to be fulfilled to accept this award.
1. Thank the person who nominated you for the award. –Β Done that πŸ™‚Β
2. Display the One Lovely Blog Award on your blog.
3. Share 7 things about yourself.
4. Nominate 15 bloggers you admire, and let them know by commenting on their blog.

7 Randomly crazy things about me. Here goes!

1. I am not a tomboy per say, but I am so at home and comfortable hanging out with guys. Guys are better friends and chilled out to be with than so many girls I know πŸ˜› that said, I have some amazing girl pals too..but still!!

2. I was quite weird as a kid. When kids my age wanted to become Doctors, Engineers and Scientists, I seemed pretty chilled out wanting to become an interior designer. I still think that’s the Coolest profession, but who would say they want to become one when they are 7 years old? πŸ˜›

3. I’m a morning person through and through. I can get up at even three in the morning but cant stay awake beyond 11 atΒ night!

4. My dream honeymoon destination is Seychelles. I mean have you seen their beaches and resorts?? *Hear hear my prospective groom* πŸ˜›

5. I am quite the irritatingly animated talker you would meet. People say even if they mute me, they might understand more or less what I’m rambling about with just my expressions. Eyes and hands!

6. I have come to realize that more than writing my posts I’m liking reading others’ posts and commenting and interacting with them a tad bit more. Mind you, I’m pretty socially awkward person who never likes making the first move in real life but here I’m having no qualms making new friends. Yes blogging my-thing yo! LoL!

7. I’m pretty good at putting myself in others’ shoes and seeing situations from their perspective and I’m proud that I can do that. Feel like that makes me a better person πŸ™‚

Well that’s that! Hope you enjoyed reading my quirks and facts! And now for my nominations. For a change, I’m not going to nominate 15 people. I’m going to restrict myself to 8Β blogs I love reading the most.

1. I know this is weird, but yes. I return this nomination back to the one who nominated me just because I think she s great at what she does and I seldom scroll down the page without reading her new posts. So here you goΒ http://mommyx4boys.wordpress.com/

2. I recently came across this blog and I loving this blog and this blogger to bits.Β http://deepbluesandseafoamgreens.wordpress.com/Β I love you talking-writing-ranting style. And it seems like I’ve known you for long. Funnily we met just two posts back. πŸ˜€ Lol.

3.Β http://happilydpressed.wordpress.com/Β is another blog I’ve comeΒ to love. I fell in love with you and your short stories. I know you’ve got nominated for many such awards, but this is my small way of saying you are awesome. πŸ™‚

4.Β http://layeredindulgence.wordpress.com/ this girl is all about style and I love that πŸ™‚ You rock!

5. One more blog which talks about this bloggers everyday woes but in such a nice way.Β http://aworriedstudent.wordpress.com/Β , your follower stats shows what an amazing writer you are πŸ˜€

6. This is the second time I’m nominating her, but I don’t care. I really look forward to reading her posts and her sense of style and her neat dressing sense is something I haven’t seen anyone else achieve. That’sΒ http://willfullyelegant.com/Β for you πŸ˜€

7. At the cost of being repetitive, this is one more blogger who gets attires and entire looks so right. And her fashion and shopping tips she gives at the end of each post are unbelievably bang on! πŸ˜€Β http://thefashionhuntress.wordpress.com/Β I’m your fan!!! πŸ˜€

8. Well, reserving the best nomination for the last is my thing, so my favorite-est blogger for reasons more than one πŸ˜‰ isΒ http://chasingyellowcabs.wordpress.com/Β . I think shes cute, smart and such an inspiring fashionista. I love your writing style and your easy and comfortable fashion sense ❀

Thank you for patiently reading this post. Once again thank you for the nomination! πŸ™‚ In case you guys are not already following these blogs, please do so before you miss their amazing future posts. πŸ˜€ Have a nice weekend ❀

Elusive french braid

I’ve been trying to nail this french plait or braid for a long time now. Sadly my almost non existent, wispy hair never allowed me to get the knack right. However, MUHAHA, after much toil I finally got a decent French braid done today. Yayy me. And trust me when I say this, if I can do it, you can surely surely do it too! Attaching a picture of the done braid now πŸ˜€ (full on boasting mode! πŸ˜› )

Hope you are able to clearly see this picture. Whadja think? πŸ˜€
And while we are at it, I thought why not do an OOTD too because today I had dressed up well too! πŸ˜‰

A lime yellow red and green salwar kameez (this is a traditional and very comfortable Indian three piece attire which fortunately gets classified as formal office wear by most companies in India). These salwar kameez are my go-to attire when
1. I’m not in a mood to work and I look for some sort of motivation in going to work by dressing up well (yup. Lol!) or,
2. I have a function or a wedding to attend directly from work.
Today however, the former was the reason for this grandeur. Me and my mid-week crisis. Lol!
So let me complete my OOTD. I finished the look with simple eye make up and a grand pair of earrings I bought in Mumbai. πŸ™‚
What do you guys think? Do tell me πŸ˜€

Rant of a pissed off blogger!

For the first month I decided I’ll tell no one about my blog. “Why should I”, I thought. I dint think I was doing anything worthwhile and more so dint think I can really sustain this blogging habit. So in order to not lose face incase I decide blogging isn’t my cup of tea, I told no one. But me being me, the blabbermouth, I could contain myself no more and told four of my very close friends about this blog of mine around two weeks ago. While two friends ( let’s call them A and B) were so happy and genuinely excited for me, to the extent that they subscribed to follow my posts and told me what they felt about each post, the third friend, C, whom I’m actually the closest with, reacted so wierdly that I was kind of taken aback. She said she read every post but had nothing to say about them. Also, when in her presence, if A or B spoke anything about my blog she turned a deaf ear to the whole conversation. And then there is this friend D, the last friend to whom I opened up about this blog. She seemed pretty happy about it and told me to send the link “whenever I pleased” and spoke about the whole process of reading my blog like she was doing me a favor.
I dont know what was the cause for this “couldn’t-care-less” attitude by friends I consider closest and though I think about it in a sad way sometimes I dont want it to actually affect me. This is my blog and I get so much excitement preparing for each post, carefully wording them and get equal pleasure interacting with strangers (who I’m happening to like a lot more than some friends lately) in their respective blogs.
Are those friends jealous that I’m doing something I love? Im not a very bad friend you know..I mean..I am always at their side willing to share their happy and testing moments with them. I am a pretty good listener and when they have issues I dont forget to follow up and help them resolving them in whatever small ways I can. Then why are they being so insensitive? Why are they being so immature and petty?
However this incident may or may not have affected me, it has made one thing very clear, that my initial decision about me telling no one about my blog was the right choice. I want this to be my happy place. Where I don’t want to think what others may think. Where I don’t have to behave in a particular sane manner in order to keep everyone happy.

Before you get tired of my constant cribbing let me show you the last of my DIY canvas painting projects which I completed successfully over the weekend πŸ˜€ Tell me what you think πŸ˜€

image

P.S.: For the record, (yes more groaning!) this friend C reacted in that exact same I-dont-give-a-f#$% sort of way when I told her about my painting hobby too :/ Yup weird.!!!
Thanks for patiently reading my complaints. What or how do you think I should react? Help!!! 😐

Whale, whale, what have we here?

image

Funny pun-ny titles and I are in a on-again off-again relationship, aren’t we? πŸ˜€
So, I’ve recently taken to painting like an ant to sweet candy and boy am I enjoying myself. Trust me, they weren’t kidding when they said painting is such a stress buster. I have started painting on canvas using acrylic paints. Apart from the above three-part whale, the other one I’ve done is this.

image

I love the way these paintings are turning out. Waiting for Sunday to start the main big DIY project inspired by which and warming up for which I’ve been painting all these small pictures.
Come soon Sunday. ❀

Hand-me-down button-me-downs!

Button downs, in whatever size (preferably up to four sizes looser) whatever color whatever pattern I can lay my hands on, I grab!!! πŸ˜€
Though I made up this title only because I felt it was catchy (what a schemer I am >:D ) this button down shirt which happens to be my OOTD is not a hand me down. I found it while I was street shopping during the vacation I recently took. Though it looks old enough to be a hand me down , no one I know handed it down personally to me except maybe the shopkeeper but he seemed too fat to be able to get into this shirt (har har me and my slapstick jokes πŸ˜› )
Without subjecting you to further torture let me just show you my look for the day.

Completed the look with the baubble chain I bought at Westside India, and a purple stud with intricate filigree work I bought at Colaba Cosway in Bombay πŸ˜€

Do you also horde on button downs, (and/or hand me downs for that matter! For me clothes are clothes..LoL!) or any such other staple clothing piece ? Do tell me, I would love to hear! ❀

Reason for the lull

So I’m down with the worst bout of flu. I sound as raspy as Darth Vader and look just as atrocious too 😐
Now that you guys know the reason for that lull, let’s move on to the reason I started writing this post.! I have for a few days now been seeing so many bloggers do beautiful things with paint and colours which kind of got me thinking whether I’m capable at all of drawing or painting anything beyond the stick figures, the two hills with a stream flowing in front of them and the sun rising between them and probably the smiley faces I usually do (yes, I can do a fairly decent job of drawing most whatsapp Smileys. Oh yes, I’ve tried πŸ˜› )
So, being very inspired, I started checking out pinterest and the internet in general for easy painting DIYs and came by a rather simple design, went to the stationary store opposite my house and bought all the colors, canvas and brushes with much gusto and sat to paint what I thought would be a debacle!
With so much negativity at the very beginning, the only way you can go is up and up is where i went because at the end of a good one and half hours, I thought I did a pretty darn good job of the whole painting. Attaching the picture of the completed painting. Please tell me what you think πŸ™‚

image

P.S. : I’m not attaching a picture of the original painting I saw on pinterest for a reason πŸ˜› haha!

Monday morning inspiration!

image

How’s that for some week beginning inspiration? πŸ™‚
Here s a quote I came by and couldn’t let it pass;
Because the quote was so true;
Because I know for a fact that the person that stereotypes me the most is no one but myself;
Because you lose nothing by giving it a shot and you might be losing a life time worth happy memories and achievements by not.

Hope this quote inspires you enough to try something new and fun this week that you’ve been putting off saying “oh I can’t do that, that’s so not me!” πŸ˜€ because maybe, just maybe, that fun thing right there, is waiting to become so you, all you, just you πŸ˜‰
