The Two Trends I Tried!!!

Hiiiii!!! Yes I’m positively excited! You know what’s better than styling new clothes and blogging about them? Styling old clothes in a new way and blogging about them of course silly!!! 😝😎

So I have forever had an amazing blue and white striped T-shirt which are one of those pieces which we be like “aww you cute thing” but put it back into the closet for it to sleep a little longer 😋 because the neck is a little deeper than my liking. Little did I know that this T-shirt will lend itself so beautifully well to layering. When that idea struck me there was no looking back after that.!

image

How about that!?! 😍 I decided to layer this T-shirt with my polka dotted and collared chambray shirt and voila I have jumped on the polka dots and stripes bandwagon! 😂

image

So this shirt T-shirt combo I paired with the M&S chinos which I’ve shown on this blog gazillion times before. Hey it’s a great color and its the most comfortable trousers in the world 😍!

image

A last minute addition was this beautiful sling bag lent by my dear friend Preethi because before me she thought that this bag will really complete this look. That’s why I love her! 🙂

Its from a really cool brand called 3 mad chicks. They have the quirkiest bags. All Indian bloggers, this is the cue where you stop reading my blog and check out 3 mad chicks.
Just kidding!! Hold on!!! Complete reading this post and then shop! 😜

A last minute addition was a really old quirky chain…just because!! What do you think?

image

The earrings were zircon-like studs and they really added spark to the otherwise sober outfit

image

How beautifully I can fake a candid pose! 😂😋

So!!! That was one trend I tried. The second one is a hairstyle. I’ve been loving the messy bun many actresses are regularly sporting lately. Especially loved Jennifer Lawrence’s look

image

I couldn’t afford it to be this messy because I was heading to work in fact 😋 so I tried a neater version of this messy bun with this outfit and boy was I satisfied !!

image

While I thought my layers are going to mess things up for this look..I was like…oh wait I need that messy look right 😂

image

So all-in-all I call this a success outfit! Have you tried this polka dots n stripes trend before? Have you sported a messy bun before? Do tell me! Have a lovely weekend! So long folks!! 💝💝

Sprightly Sunday Inspiration

I have always wanted to write. About incidents and events in my life. But there was one small hitch however! I never thought any event in my life has been so funny, or inspiring or just so dramatic for me to pen it down creatively. So I thought today to myself, “let me not go looking for stellar memories and moments in my life because that is just an excuse to postpone writing.”
So I decided to write short events once a week about a friend, a family member, an acquaintance, a stranger, whoever. Someone who in their own way has shown me some light, given my some hope, some inspiration to move on with life on a positive note. I just want to write and which better platform than my own blog to start with! I call this my Sprightly Sunday Inspiration segment (I spent exactly 0.1 seconds coining that segment name!)
Moving on to my story now!

Father
Every time he told me “you don’t know what you would get if you just ask,” I would just scoff at him. Every time he told me “you don’t know your worth until you express your desire to find out,” I would mumble that I would try next time. Or pretend I didn’t hear that. Or tell him it’s easy for him to say without being in my situation.

Be it a doubt at school which I didn’t ask. Be it a drop back home request to a friend which I never asked. Be it authorities and responsibilities at work which I felt I’m entitled to which I didn’t ask. Be it anything. I just accepted. I wouldn’t say it never passed my head that I probably should speak up and stand for what’s mine. But hey! That involves work right? So I let that be and I let me be and the situation be and moved on.

My dad on the other hand always asked. He did not necessarily get what he asked for every time but the fact that he tried, remains. Coming from a large family which barely made ends meet has that impact on people I guess. Unless you wail for it you won’t be fed. (There is literally a proverb like that in my language. :))

I never noticed that he truly led by example when it came to this quality all these years. Tales about him fighting with his dad to go to a bigger town to do his higher studies in a big city because an Indian Institute of Technology was clearly better that an engineering college in his village fell on my deaf ears. Tales about him constantly tying to better himself through feedback and self-analysis went unnoticed. Even small things like tales about him getting better deals at bargain shops than us and ending up making great friends with the shopkeepers were brushed off as good luck. Last week however something happened which brought all this to perspective. So, my dad is a external consultant to a small valve making firm. A major valve exhibition happens at Dusseldorf, Germany every year and that’s like the spring-break hangout zone for all these valve engineers. So, one marketing dude from this valve making firm had been chosen by the MD to visit this exhibition. On knowing this, my dad, who loves such exhibitions merely because of the number of people and the technology he gets to meet, threw a long shot and sent a detailed e-mail to the MD of this firm. He listed down how his company has had such an upswing ever since he joined them and how he has been dedicating most of his time for this particular company and because of all this how he was equally eligible to visit this exhibition. After sending this mail he totally forgot about it because it definitely was a hundred-to-one type of shot he had taken. A couple of days later this MD calls my dad and says “what are you doing answering calls? Aren’t you busying yourself over the packing?”

How cool is that? So turns out, the MD realized how important it was that my dad goes and meets the prospective clients and customers and brings his technical knowledge to the table at this exhibition.

Had my dad not asked, the MD might or might not have realized what a good option it will be to send my dad. But would that realization happened on time? I doubt that!

So ask before it becomes late my friend. You’d rather have tried and failed than to have not tried at all and not known which way luck would have swayed.

Random Rambling

I thought I should say hey to y’all since its been a while! So sit back and get ready to read a post filled with utterly random tidbits from my life! 😂

I at last watched the movie Gone Girl this weekend and the single best fitting adjective to describe the movie : W.E.I.R.D!

image

I mean…I really loved the acting, the beautifully different twists in the story line and even some characters…but the whole film as such – weird, the ending – weird, the way she is so hell bent on her psychotic goals in the beginning and somewhere down the line she losing her sense of purpose – weird. I have probably not evolved enough to wrap my head around such a complicated storyline, but whatever maybe the case, I didn’t come out of that theater feeling very thrilled with what I saw. On a completely different note however, Rosamund Pike, you beauty! 😍

Moving on, I recently splurged on this really cool set of water soluble pencil colors from staedtler.

image

And I have been going crazy using them. A sample if you must! 😝

image

So you just have to amateurishly scribble with the color pencil and then dab a wet brush over it to get a beautifully smooth water color texture.! Easy Peasy! 😍👏

Also, I was rummaging through my closet the other day, I figured I had this highly under-rated T-shirt. You know how comic T-shirts have been in vogue forever right? So this is a comic T-shirt too. It however isn’t the usual superman nor batman! Its not angry birds or minions! Its a cartoon of the happy but confused, loud but cheerful people and the general labyrinth of chaos so peculiar to my country India in general and my city Chennai in particular. 😍

image

It is such an easy to wear T-shirt and it is my go to when I’m going somewhere quick and I don’t have much time to think! Also, just looking at that T-shirt lifts my spirits! Doesn’t it? Wait check out the close up and decide for yourself!

image

I bought it off a small stall at the City Center mall in my city. Such Colorful! Much Wow! Ya? 😂😝
Have a fabulous week y’all! 🙂

Children’s Day!

November 14th is celebrated as Children’s Day in India. It was on this day in 1889 Jawaharlal Nehru an Indian freedom fighter was born. He loved kids. Hence 14th Nov was set aside to remember Pandit Nehru and his love for children.

image

Happy children’s day folks! Bring out the kid in you more often. The only kind of people I’m jealous about in life are kids. Their innocence, creativity, non-judgmental attitude is so precious and beautiful. If we stop our old brains from constantly ticking complex thoughts for all of a few moments everyday, and turn on the innocence, more than anyone around you, you will find that inner peace so refreshing! Have a beautiful weekend! 💖

Quick update!

A month ago I joined a running group. Though I’ve run two short distance marathons before, this time (on Sunday) I tried a 10km run (that is 6.3 miles approximately) with a bit a practice. And guess what? I ran the whole distance. No walking, no spraining, no slouching and giving up! Ran, ran and ran! 😍 I was definitely one of the slowest, but that did not matter as long as I ran!

image

image

It was refreshing and a great experience although I want to work on my speed  because running becomes effective only above a certain pace.
With a lot of marathons lined up I am definitely trying speed improvement! 🙂

Colorb(older)locking!

I color blocked once again and this time a little bolder. 😍 See? I told you guys I could do it!!
I must warn you, I had no one to click pictures so the pictures are all selfies.!

image

So this was the basic combination. Green shorts, red tank top inside and a yellow blouse over it. Is that wild or what? 😎

image

This yellow top I got from my aunt who was probably bored of wearing it. 😝 (not complaining!) It has been bought at CottonWorld! And I love it because its beautifully light cotton with a lot of embroidery and cut-work.

image

These GreenShorts are from VeroModa. When I bought it more than a year ago, the only consideration was that I wanted shorts which didn’t make my thunder thighs look more thunderous. 😂 And when I saw this one I grabbed without second thought. It was only later that I realized it was such a good buy because green pairs with the most unusual colors and I love deciding what to wear with it. 😍

image

Lastly, I wore red cubed earrings and a red watch (talk about wild😂) and golden ballerinas to tie up the whole look. LOL!

image

So what do you think about my bolder color blocking?? Did I live up to the challenge? 😆;) Have a super week folks. Stay happy and stay safe.

P.S. I am adding this Postscript because I wanted to show you guys my inspiration behind color blocking.
image
This is my cousin and she designed this dress herself. Can you believe it.?! Its so perfectly and beautifully color blocked and I understood the idea of mixing three colors of pretty non-related color families from this outfit. Who would have thought peach purple and green would go together so wonderfully well right? 🙂

I got my Neon This One!

Hahaha don’t my punny titles crack you up? Please say it did! 😂 So! Say hey to my next four part segment – “Neon-daze” (Remember my Orange is the new black Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4? No? Oh very well!😝)

These segments are here to show my neon obsession in life! Right from a little before it came into being trendy and well after the trend has died a peaceful death I continue to be the moth attracted to the bright neon haze and be dazed in it (am I killing these rhyming words or what! 👐😂)
Well when it does come back in vogue, I can at least say “Duh! Been there done, doing, will continue to do that!” Can you?!? Tell?

Moving on! I present to you the first neon in my wardrobe! A shocking pink and white blouse. Lately I’ve been obsessed with wearing shirts and blouses over t-shirts, so that’s what I did here too..! Ba-dum-tsss cover your eyes and take a peak at this neon-over-neon-overdose!

image

image

This neon pink and white shirt I bought at a cute thrift store in Malaysia and paired it with this butterfly T-shirt a friend who visited France bought back for me.
It was such a clash of brash colors but I had a lot of FUN wearing them.
To give some respite to sore eyes I paired this look with plain black jeans.
Psst… my earrings were neon too! Muhahaha!

image

Hope you have an amazing weekend. My weekend is going to be super fun. I can just feel it already! 😍 Stay happy and safe.!

Colorblocking and Subtlety!

As much as I like to go really bold with color blocking I’m still learning and taking only my baby steps

I went to work last Friday wearing a subtly colorblocked outfit which ended up with people telling me the color combination looked pretty good. So I’m happy! 😜

image

I have worn this denim shirt one before here!
For this look I paired it with a plain peach T-shirt and black jeans.
From a single staple black T-shirt I’ve gone onto owning a pink, a peach and a white plain T-shirt. I love the fact that they can be so effortlessly paired and lend themselves so well to be layered or when we want some other piece to be the hero of the look!

image

While for the photoshoot I tied up the bottom of my denim shirt-turned-jacket, I had it fully open during the rest of my day. 😆

image

image

A bit too casual for office ya think? I thought so too. LOL! 😂 Oh well! What has been done has been done. So long folks 😘😜 Have an amazing week y’all!
