Elusive french braid

I’ve been trying to nail this french plait or braid for a long time now. Sadly my almost non existent, wispy hair never allowed me to get the knack right. However, MUHAHA, after much toil I finally got a decent French braid done today. Yayy me. And trust me when I say this, if I can do it, you can surely surely do it too! Attaching a picture of the done braid now 😀 (full on boasting mode! 😛 )

Hope you are able to clearly see this picture. Whadja think? 😀
And while we are at it, I thought why not do an OOTD too because today I had dressed up well too! 😉

A lime yellow red and green salwar kameez (this is a traditional and very comfortable Indian three piece attire which fortunately gets classified as formal office wear by most companies in India). These salwar kameez are my go-to attire when
1. I’m not in a mood to work and I look for some sort of motivation in going to work by dressing up well (yup. Lol!) or,
2. I have a function or a wedding to attend directly from work.
Today however, the former was the reason for this grandeur. Me and my mid-week crisis. Lol!
So let me complete my OOTD. I finished the look with simple eye make up and a grand pair of earrings I bought in Mumbai. 🙂
What do you guys think? Do tell me 😀

Rant of a pissed off blogger!

For the first month I decided I’ll tell no one about my blog. “Why should I”, I thought. I dint think I was doing anything worthwhile and more so dint think I can really sustain this blogging habit. So in order to not lose face incase I decide blogging isn’t my cup of tea, I told no one. But me being me, the blabbermouth, I could contain myself no more and told four of my very close friends about this blog of mine around two weeks ago. While two friends ( let’s call them A and B) were so happy and genuinely excited for me, to the extent that they subscribed to follow my posts and told me what they felt about each post, the third friend, C, whom I’m actually the closest with, reacted so wierdly that I was kind of taken aback. She said she read every post but had nothing to say about them. Also, when in her presence, if A or B spoke anything about my blog she turned a deaf ear to the whole conversation. And then there is this friend D, the last friend to whom I opened up about this blog. She seemed pretty happy about it and told me to send the link “whenever I pleased” and spoke about the whole process of reading my blog like she was doing me a favor.
I dont know what was the cause for this “couldn’t-care-less” attitude by friends I consider closest and though I think about it in a sad way sometimes I dont want it to actually affect me. This is my blog and I get so much excitement preparing for each post, carefully wording them and get equal pleasure interacting with strangers (who I’m happening to like a lot more than some friends lately) in their respective blogs.
Are those friends jealous that I’m doing something I love? Im not a very bad friend you know..I mean..I am always at their side willing to share their happy and testing moments with them. I am a pretty good listener and when they have issues I dont forget to follow up and help them resolving them in whatever small ways I can. Then why are they being so insensitive? Why are they being so immature and petty?
However this incident may or may not have affected me, it has made one thing very clear, that my initial decision about me telling no one about my blog was the right choice. I want this to be my happy place. Where I don’t want to think what others may think. Where I don’t have to behave in a particular sane manner in order to keep everyone happy.

Before you get tired of my constant cribbing let me show you the last of my DIY canvas painting projects which I completed successfully over the weekend 😀 Tell me what you think 😀

image

P.S.: For the record, (yes more groaning!) this friend C reacted in that exact same I-dont-give-a-f#$% sort of way when I told her about my painting hobby too :/ Yup weird.!!!
Thanks for patiently reading my complaints. What or how do you think I should react? Help!!! 😐

Whale, whale, what have we here?

image

Funny pun-ny titles and I are in a on-again off-again relationship, aren’t we? 😀
So, I’ve recently taken to painting like an ant to sweet candy and boy am I enjoying myself. Trust me, they weren’t kidding when they said painting is such a stress buster. I have started painting on canvas using acrylic paints. Apart from the above three-part whale, the other one I’ve done is this.

I love the way these paintings are turning out. Waiting for Sunday to start the main big DIY project inspired by which and warming up for which I’ve been painting all these small pictures.
Come soon Sunday. ❤

Reason for the lull

So I’m down with the worst bout of flu. I sound as raspy as Darth Vader and look just as atrocious too 😐
Now that you guys know the reason for that lull, let’s move on to the reason I started writing this post.! I have for a few days now been seeing so many bloggers do beautiful things with paint and colours which kind of got me thinking whether I’m capable at all of drawing or painting anything beyond the stick figures, the two hills with a stream flowing in front of them and the sun rising between them and probably the smiley faces I usually do (yes, I can do a fairly decent job of drawing most whatsapp Smileys. Oh yes, I’ve tried 😛 )
So, being very inspired, I started checking out pinterest and the internet in general for easy painting DIYs and came by a rather simple design, went to the stationary store opposite my house and bought all the colors, canvas and brushes with much gusto and sat to paint what I thought would be a debacle!
With so much negativity at the very beginning, the only way you can go is up and up is where i went because at the end of a good one and half hours, I thought I did a pretty darn good job of the whole painting. Attaching the picture of the completed painting. Please tell me what you think 🙂

P.S. : I’m not attaching a picture of the original painting I saw on pinterest for a reason 😛 haha!

Denim + denim!

A recent craze on which I over-binged was denim shirts. (Yes I bought three variations of the same frikkin trend :/ ) So my OOTD for the day is going to be the first of the many denim shirts to come 😛

It was casual-friday at office and I went all out with this rock-punk star look 😛 The folks at work were taken aback by this “rowdy” look but they learnt to live with it (they had a choice?)
I chose to wear this denim shirt which is approximately 7.25 sizes bigger than my size, (no, really, I’m not kidding!.) (Ok maybe I’m kidding a little bit :3 ) with skinny black jeans. I completed the look with black pumps, a silver metal watch and long chain with a blue pendant. I tried to completely tone down the rest of my look because I knew the loose shirt by itself was going to take a bit of getting used to by colleagues.!

What do you think of the look? Do tell me! 🙂

Pulled it off!

I love experimenting with the almost non existent hair of mine. Be it hair styles or hair cuts. While I’m planning to do a post on the various hairstyles I’ve tried so far in a while, I dedicate this post to a rather easy inverse ponytail I tried to work today.

image

Its a simple case of tying a loose ponytail, dividing the hair above your ponytail into two and popping the ponytail into this cavity and pulling it it down. Tada!!!
A step by step process can be found here!

What do you think of this hairdo? Do tell me!! 🙂

The one oh-i-cant-pull-it-off dress!

Don’t we all have that one dress which we buy with much gusto but never get the nerve to wear? Well this is that dress for me 😛 but I mustered up the courage to wear it in my vacation when we going to a high end mall. 😀

image

It is patterned like a skirt and blouse but it is actually a dress (or a frock as the pretty
fashionhuntress would call it 😀 ) It has blue and yellow aztec printed top and thin denim textured bottom. I decided to pair it with a gold linked chain and nude platform footwear. I tied my hair up into a french plait (yus I have a cool sister who can do cool updos with my nonexistent hair B-) )

How do you think I’ve pulled off my oh-i-cant-pull-it-off dress? Let me know 🙂

P.S. please don’t be harsh 😛

I will do an OOTD too :D

So, from sheepishly googling the expansion of OOTD to actually posting my own OOTD Ive come quite a distance in blogging dont you think? 😀

image

I recently picked up this off white top at a lifestyle sale. I loved it the minute I saw it because of its jeweled peter pan collar. I stowed it away to wear somewhere fancy.
This was the first top I decided to take on my vacation. I have never been a fan of color pants and I bought these pants on an impulse long ago. It has been sleeping rather peacefully for quite a while now :p . So I decided to pair this off white top with red because I thought it brought out the off white color and the look of the jeweled collar really well. I kept the rest of the look very simple with red studs and white pumps (not seen in this picture :/ )
What do you guys think of the look? Liked it? What color would you have paired them with? Do let me know 😀

Birthday post :D

No posts from me for a while now ..but hey hey hey here I am 🙂
Vacation + birthday + weekend now that’s a win-win situation (actually a win-win-win situation .. Ha ha)
So had an amazing birthday put together by my friends in Chennai and family here in Mumbai. Both of them had arranged for a cake each (one death by chocolate cake and one cadbury dairymilk silk cake to be specific >:D ) The cake cutting was followed by a surprise lunch get together oraganised by the mommy and my aunt. I was so excited I looked like The Joker (a maniacal smile stuck to my face) thanks to which I was quite a sight in all the photos :/ … Hey in my defense, it was my first surprise party okayyy!! 😀
Whoever said “You dont choose your family, they are god’s gift to you” also said “you dont get to choose your relatives, that’s why god created friends” 😀 and I sure seem to have the best of both worlds dont you think? 🙂

Vacaaatttiiiioooonnnnn :D

After nearly a year of working non stop its finally that time of the year where I get to pack my bags and have a whole week of fun 🙂

Off to Bombay tomorrow to visit my cousins and I’m pretty kicked about it 😀
Best part. Declared haughtily to my folks that I’m gonna travel extremely light so that I can splurge and come back extremely heavy and guess what? My mom and sister have already agreed upon this arrangement roughly two weeks ago  :/

Any thoughts on what i should specifically look to buy at Bombay? 🙂

Excciitttedddd 😀 Ya I get stressfully excited about vacations. Leaving you with a picture that describes me perfectly :’D

That’s me. Yaaah B-) :p
