Festive Beginnings – Ft. Baka/rebecca – Part 1

October for all Indians means only one thing! The most vibrant Quarter of the year is here! Every year I remember as a kid, the whole atmosphere at home and at school used to undergo a shift when October sets in and I realize the same excitement has transcended well into adulthood as well!

Sustainable Silhouettes Ft. Arodhi

Over the course of this year I have consciously cut down accumulating clothes. Now many will think this isn’t a smart move for a “fashion blogger” because new clothes means new posts but for me the need to shift into sustainability was far greater than my love for blogging, OOTDs and making a statement. Besides, its surprising how happy you get, and the number of different outfits you think of, when you remove that constant need to update your wardrobe.

Summer Styles IV/IV – Off to Brunch!

A nice three day weekend only means one thing! A delayed post 😆! But this is a good one so I strongly urge you to read on! 😉

Summers are a definite no pants time! Unfortunately there are only so many options when you try to fully remove pants from your outfit equation! So I sat thinking about how I could sneak pants into this look book and lo and behold! 👇🏾

PALAZZO pants are the answer to all your sweaty qualms! They are comfy airy and totally fit into our “summer no pant but need something like it” condition!

I went for the boss lady look and the pictures just don’t tell the whole story of how I was giggling in between each shot! 😆

I never usually have the confidence to truly pull off a print on print look but the minute I bought this crop top I knew the abstract patterns and the whites, blues and greys would totally compliment the neat vertical symmerty of these dark blue palazzo pants!

At last a smile! lol

I absolutely loved the way these pictures have turned out! The blue of the random garage door and the words on it, the casual spread of the dried pink Bougainville and the shadows and sunny spots created by the trees add such a classy charm to the whole setting! Thank you Sneha Chandrashekar (Instagram handle: @purplecurlss) for these spectacular images! 😍

Outfit Details: Crop top – Stay Fabulous (Facebook), Palazzo Pants – Splash, Heels – Gift from a special person from Zara’s ❤️, Watch – Tommy Hilfiger

Though I came a day late the stuff I brought along were pretty latest right!? 😂 Hope you enjoyed this blog post! I’m so bummed it’s the last of the summer look book series because I had soooo much fun creating it. But fret not I have a couple of really cool blog ideas I’ll be working on very soon! So until next time, ciao! ❤️

Summer Style – Part III/IV – Nature Hues

Hi you guys! It feels great to be sticking to a routine and coming back to the blog every Monday 😀 wonder how long that’s gonna last for… Anyway let’s fuggedaboudit for a moment now and talk about the next summer styling idea and it is *drumroll* the traditional Salwar/Chudidhar and Kameez!

The salwar kameez is a traditional Indian three piece suit which has a kameez which is a top that you can equate to a knee length dress and a salwar/patiala pant/Chudidhar which is the pant and a dupatta which is shawl we cover our torso with!

The Patiala or simply a salwar pant has a lot of gathering and looks great with a short top or a tshirt even! The Chudidhar bottom is comes more like a tightish pant (that’s what I’m wearing in this look!)

This outfit was infact bought on my birthday! A gift from me to me 😛 last year! It wasn’t a set when I bought it (just putting that in so you would be like oooh how do you mix n match so well!! Lol!)

This salwar has Churi sleeves which means the sleeves like the pant has gatherings at the end too! Its pure cotton and feels great to wear!

Salwars in general are a great option to wear in summer and whenever it’s possible to ditch the dupatta, do it because honestly, minimalism in any which way possible in a 40•C weather is extremely essential!

I’m just realizing all the three summer looks I have put together this time are yellow and green hues..er so much for variety!

i will stand up on the bench and pose. Because I can!

Outfit Details: The whole set – top, pant and dupatta – Fab India, Slippers – Koblerr, Earrings – Kushals

When we did the whole photoshoot for the four outfits I must say this outfit was my least favourite because I was feeling all conscious in it…I know it’s just a salwar! What’s to feel conscious right? So anyway, I was dreading seeing the pictures of this one but I must say this Sneha Chandrashekar knows what she’s doing! Follow her on Instagram where she goes by the handle @purplecurlss! ❤️

That ladies (and the very few gentlemen who read my blog!) brings us to the end of Part 3 of the 4 part summer series! So tell me are you enjoying the looks? Did you try to create a summer look yourself? Comment below cause I would love to know. Have a fabulous week! Bye!

Summer Style – Part II/IV – Beach Vibes

Summers, mild ones atleast are associated with the beach! Nothing can beat a cool summer day at the beach and being in a tropical country in general and a coastal city in specific we usually get a lot of Vitamin Sea! This outfit symbolizes beachy vibes for me and once you take a look you’ll agree too!

Long skirts are the shizz for summer days and the wind beneath (or to be honest in between!) your legs is priceless!

I paired this dandelion printed skirt with a yellow hakoba (?) top and a last minute addition were these pair of reflector shades which I flicked from a friend who came to help us out with the photoshoot!

I love the casual vibe of this photoshoot and I had better liked it because I paid the auto driver a good amount to shoot with his auto rickshaw! :/

As beachy as this outfit may look, Sneha Chandrashekaran (follow her on Instagram @purplecurlss (yes a double s)) my photographer, stood her ground and flat out refused to do this shoot on the sea shore and I’m glad she thought this was a way cooler idea, it was after way cooler this way, wasn’t it!

Outfit Details: Top – Splash, Skirt – Stay Fabuluous, Reflector shades – Flicked from friend (she bought it at Forever 21 though!)

Hope you guys enjoyed part two of the four part series! Excited about the remaining two too! Have a fantastic week ahead! Lots of love

Summer Style – Part I/IV – Cool and Comfortable Drapes

After what seems like the longest break I’ve taken from the blogging world, I’m back with the next post you guys!

So, before that, tell me..how you been? 💕💕didja miss me? Didja think about me? 💁🏻👸🏻💁🏻 a big hug if you did! A big hug if you didn’t too! 😂

Diving straight in, I decided to do a four part post about what to wear this summer  when you decide Pants are not your cuppa! What with the sun scorching, I bet jeans are the last things on your mind. But what are the alternatives you may wonder. Fret not love, for I’m here to show you four cool and easy ways to waltz through summer pants-free! 😊

Part I – The quintessential Six yards

The Saree is the touted to be the most beautiful attire. Drape it well and it can be the most accentuating outfit you’d ever have worn! And that’s why the Saree is my first choice of clothing this summer!

This beautiful Kota cotton Saree has a funny story behind it! It about a year ago (oh coming to think about it, exactly a year ago!) that I decided to gift my grandmother (let’s call her paati because that makes typing a whole lot easier for me!) a Saree for her birthday. I fell in love with this Saree the instant I saw it because I could so imagine my paati looking cute and bright in yellow and green. Also, I presumed she would love something cool and comfortable like a Kota cotton anyday over a heavy silk Saree. Well I was mistaken wasn’t I!

Let me continue the story after the next image! 😛

So I buy the Saree and take it to her, and my paati being my paati looked at it with a dead pan face (something like this 😶) and took it. Hahahah! I later realised she wanted a silk saree as it turned out that I wasn’t alone in thinking cottons would be what she needs. So one year later, this saree was still new and unworn and I shamelessly went and borrowed it back from her for the shoot! Yup thaaat’s me! Happy and shameless!

And that’s exactly what I seem to be happily declaring to the world in the next picture! Lol!)

Cotton sarees in general and good Kota sarees in particular weigh almost nothing! So take out your mom’s or maybe even your paati’s saree out and take it for a spin this summer!

Outfit Details: Kota Saree – Shilpi (Chennai), Readymade blouse – RmKV (Chennai), Necklace – Gift, Footwear – Koblerr (Chennai)

These pictures were taken by the awesome Sneha Chandrashekhar! We did all four outfits in one shot and they have all come out so well that it’s making me exercise so much self control to not release all of them in one go its not even funny anymore! ☹️ Thank you Sneha for ensuring I’m spoilt for choice!  (follow her on Instagram @purplecurlss)

That’s all from me this week! I promise I’ll be regular (atleast till this series is done with!) with a new post coming out every Monday! See ya! ❤️

How to pull of a Graphic Tee w/o looking like a 9-year old – Part II

Hola all you wonderful people! So the new year is finally here! I (very clichéd-ly) can’t believe a year has flown, sped, zoomed by so quickly! It has been a very good year but definitely hoping for better things in 2016!  Aren’t we all? 🙂

So as the second part (finale!) of this Graphic Tee styling post, I bring to you two more ideas to style such funky tshirts without them looking age inappropriate on you! Let’s get started!

1. Skirt it or knot it

Wearing these tshirts with skirts are a very popular and easy styling way! Here I have used a Winter is coming (Game of thrones) crop top and paired it with my trusted pencil skirt! I have knotted the top because it sort of structured the look that way!

This was such a candid photo..my friend who was clicking the photo went “1..2..3..tummy tuck” and this was my instant reaction while tucking the tummy! such big tummy issues! 😛

Pro tip: I used a H&M in-skirt and it gave the pencil skirt such a neat finish..no more you-know-which lines I’m talking about lines while wearing pencil skirts! Yay!

2. Go Laid back

Going for the laid back look is probably the easiest thing you can do with such tee shirts. For this look I have chosen this wolverine tshirt (courtesy : sister’s wardrobe! Hehe) and paired it with my Khakhi shorts and my denim shirt. A last minute addition were those nerdy specs because my friend thought and I agreed, that it bound and sealed the look…I don’t know why we did that and that’s precisely what I was telling  her when she clicked this first shot! Haah!

Another candid capture! I think we were discussing about conquering the world and i was all “yeah lets do it! you mean now? Yeah why not?”

Pro Tip: I know pairing such short shorts with sneakers is the cutest thing to do, but try pairing them with flats or something boho like these mini boho gladiators I’m wearing because that looks pretty cute too! Lol (not pro at all!)

Outfit Details : Winter in coming crop top – Myntra, Pencil skirt and khakhi shorts – New York and Company, Nude pumps and boho gladiator sandals – Westside, Wolverine Teeshirt – Marvel comics website (I think!), Denim shirt – Street shopped in Mumbai, nerdy glasses – flicked from my friend!

So that brings us to the end of this post! Hope your first week of 2016 went by eventfully! I couldn’t wait with such good photos until Monday to post and hence this change in schedule! How’d you like this post? Tell me I’m all ears! 😍

P.S.: It was a new year and I HAD to do something new, so on Jan 1st I went and got my nose pierced! Cool eh?
