Hailing from a city called Palakkad which lies almost on the line dividing Tamil Nadu and Kerala has its own strange perks! We get to celebrate Keralite festivals without looking like a South Indian going on Karva Chauth fasts (er…yes I have some such friends! :P)
The biggest festival in Kerala is Onam their harvest festival. Its a four day extravaganza when every house is fully cleaned and decorated with large floral carpets called pookkalams like this one:
Now Onam is associated with white and the beautiful woman of Kerala adorn white sarees and dance around the pookkalams! Now you see why I obsess over Onam? It has a fashion aspect to it silly! 🙂
White onam sarees traditionally come with rich golden borders and zari and so they go so well with golden jewellery! And that is why I jumped at the offer when Kanyaa of Mahatriya wanted me to do a blog post featuring her line of jewellery as an Onam special blog post! Here the overall look!
Kanyaa and I decided on this beautiful matt-finish gold close neck choker and jhumka set to be the hero of this post. I paired it with my mum’s traditional white Kerala Saree and my neonish-goldenish brocade blouse to go with it!
Mahatriya is a boutique jewellery design internet pop-up which creates and curates custom accessories for all occasions. The rest of the look was kept to a minimum to really make the bling stand out! 😀 This is the sort of jewellery every Indian ethnic attire lover must have in her wardrobe because just add it to even the dullest of outfits and you are sorted and good to go!
This was a “I let my photos do the talking” kinda post after long and that’s all thanks to Adhi of Face Photography (follow his work here on Instagram and Facebook) Thank you so much Adhi for the stunning photos and edits! ❤
Hope this post inspires you to bring out your whites and gold this Onam! Its on the 13th of September, don’t forget! 😉
You look so so so adorable 😀 I was literally waiting for your post for long.! Keep posting frequently.. Pleasy Please.!
Lots of Love,
ShaShi ❤
