I, at long last, caved into this statement jewelry craze and bought two necklaces recently. Tada! Exhibit A

I wanted this necklace to really be the hero of the look today and hence decided to underplay the rest of my look. (To the extent that some people thought I forgot a jacket or some/any other dress completer back home 😂 Relax y’all her highness is not always strutting around looking like she has on her an entire shop. It’s called S-T-R-A-T-E-G-Y. 😜)
So…this is how I looked. Brace yourselves.

Yes I wore a white T-shirt blue jeans and white pumps and FYI all you enquirers about my dull outfit, the necklace WAS THE WINNER. Ha! 😜🙌

Anyway, moving on, to other random and just as useless things, I saw this picture recently and I loved it so much that I have been wanting to share it here for y’all to have a good laugh about and nod your heads vigorously in assent

Moving on one last time to my last bit of interesting news, I have started running 😍 I love running and I’ve been trying to track a very active running club in my city for a while now. I recently got hold of their number through a mutual friend and have started running with them. One word to describe it, EXHILARATING. ENERGIZING. EXUBERANT.. oh did i use more than one word? Hell yeah, that’s because I’m that excited about this thing. I ran 5.7kms on day one. Hopefully I better my performance tomorrow.

The week that was!

I have had quite a good last week and I thought I should share all that fun with you guys. Nothing much yet fashion or clothes wise because I’m trying to lie low as I’ve been spending way too much the past few months. So its the other things like these:

Hairstyles:
I have seriously started becoming pretty good at this stuff to be honest. From not even being able to do a simple braid I’ve started getting all inventive-y. Check out muh mane yo! 😎😂

This is the cool hairstyle to try especially when your hair is still slightly damp and you have to rush for work. Side partition, take a bunch on either side, twist-twist-twist, secure in the centre with hairpins. Voila! Done!

This is the side french braid and I got the inspiration to try out this braid from pinterest. Its the simple case of doing a normal french braid but instead of starting in the Centre, start at one end and work your way through to the other end.

Poster Birthday Gifts

Two friends celebrated their birthdays the past week and I gifted them these cool posters I made out of canvas and got them framed. They are great gifts because they are personalized, handmade, and easy to make.

Kurti and Harem Pant (trend I tried!)

In India, a short shirt with some traditional embroidery or motif work done on it is called a kurti and I have been wearing this one for a while now with boring old blue jeans. It was only recently that I realized the red delicate embroidery on its neckline and sleeves lends itself so beautifully to be teamed with red harem pants. So I tried it and it was a real hit at work 😍
I also found the right pair of footwear with the same combination of colors so all-in-all I was thrilled with the look 🙂

Roll my hair I meant. Bwahaha..!
So the past week was very mane-oriented for me and I tried these two hairstyles to work. 🙂

French Knot

A french knot looks deceptively easy. The toughest part of it is not the hairstyle itself but how tightly you secure it with bun pins.! Its a smart updo which is a good idea for work and occasions alike.
It simply is a case of bunching your hair up like you are about to tie it up into a ponytail and start rolling it down neatly and when you reach the nape of your neck, stop. The balance hair should be doubled up and tucked neatly into the roll you just created. Secure tightly with le bun pins 😛

Fishtail

The second hairstyle is a fishtail. Its so easy but so time consuming, its not even funny. :/ I found it hard to keep my hand raised for so long so I asked my sister to do this hairstyle on me and so she did and she did well too didn’t she? 😀
A normal fishtail starts at the nape of the neck which I didn’t quite like because I like my hair to be tight right from the top so we tried this slight variation of the fishtail – a French braid style fishtail. Find the link to this tutorial here!

One Post, two Life through the Lens Challenges

I have somehow missed both the life through the lens challenges though I have been thinking I read every post of Mommyx4boys (oh…fyi…when I visited her page now for a link back I see a third pending challenge. But that can wait :P)
So the two topics I missed were Miracle and Love. Let’s go one by one. 🙂

Miracle
This one’s a photo. And the story behind it is the Miracle.

That’s me holding my Chartered Accountant Membership Certificate on passing the course. You must be wondering why this photo here, it’s because passing the course is a bloody miracle in itself 😀 The pass percentage was a frugal 7% when I gave my exams. 7 of every 100 clear. Miracle or what?!? 🙂

Love
This is a pencil sketch I did for Love. A slightly different interpretation but yes!

Nothing is as genuine as the love dogs show and I think I’ve done a good job bringing out that emotion. I had a rough idea of the kind of picture I wanted to draw and Google threw up this amazing idea 😀 what do you think guys?

Just a Gesture!

For me a gesture is all that matters. However small and however simple it is that thoughtful gesture that truly counts.
I completed a year at work today and my friend Preeti (my blog’s official photographer too 🙂 ) being the thoughtful and sweet one that she always is surprised me with a gift.

A small extremely cute desk-clock. I was so touched, moved, and amazed by her gesture. The fact that this clock is so adorably cute and useful is ONLY an added bonus. What really mattered was how she remembered. How she took the trouble. How she did not think this wasn’t occasion enough to remember. Thank you.

Your kindness, warmth, practicality and maturity has been such a motivation for me since the day we met Preeti. A gesture was all it took and I was a happy-puppy all day long :D. You take on the world with that same smiling face as you’ve been doing for so many years. You are my inspiration.
I know this doesn’t suffice but a small gesture from my end for being so thoughtful. A wordcloud with all the words I associate you with. I Love you.

Life through the lens – Challenge, Accepted!

So my favorite blogger Diana from mommy * 4 boys has started a drawing challenge series just for the fun and love of it. And I thought why not and decided to give it a shot!
The theme was fear. We had to either pick out a picture we have taken or create a drawing and show what we felt best depicted fear. I chose to draw because I can’t click posed photos (er…hands on flash? Check, hands on lens? Check) leave alone candid shots!
I’m really excited about this challenge and I kept it simple because this is the first time I’m pencil sketching.

I’m still neck deep in work and yet I’m unable to resist the urge for a quick post.
So, India celebrates its 68th year of independence on 15th August this year which is tomorrow. This day being a national holiday, all the celebration at work happened today. We were asked to dress up in any attire which best represented our country. And yours truly with her extremely limited out of the box thinking decided to become the Indian flag!!! Haha!!! Photos are in order ofcourse!

I don’t know what I’m so elated about. Just the thought of turning up in my nation’s tricolor I suppose 😀

So I was tingling with creativity because I saw this lovely video by heathers hobby and I couldn’t resist trying it out. And so I did. And so this post. And so some pictures!!! 😀

I thought silhouettes look better afar than close up and hence the various proximities. I was particular about trying this technique of color blending and gradual movements from one light color (yellow) to a darker color (red) and I am pretty satisfied with the outcome. That said, I’m always satisfied with what I do 😛 so it is for others to tell me how it looks 🙂
A Tuesday well spent relaxing and painting at home. Oh yes. Hope you guys had a hard and tough day at work. Bwahaha! >:D

So, it is my close friend’s birthday so guess who smartly turned her new found hobby successfully into a personalized gifting idea? Yah thaaaats me! 😀
Sat twelve hours and made this piece of painting which I personally feel is the happiest most colorful and toughest paintings I’ve attempted so far. Say hey to awesomeness! 😀

So, the basic idea I flicked as usual from pinterest and gave my personal touches to it. Used acrylic as always to paint on canvas. Love canvas and acrylic because they are the easiest things to work over if you make mistakes. So that works pretty well for clumsy people like me. :/ (dropped little paint on it once..and the paint brush full of wet paint once. So…er..ya. Clumsy..that’s me)
I hope my friend loves this painting as much as I loved doing it for her. Fingers crossed. X!

7 Randomly crazy things about me. Here goes!

1. I am not a tomboy per say, but I am so at home and comfortable hanging out with guys. Guys are better friends and chilled out to be with than so many girls I know 😛 that said, I have some amazing girl pals too..but still!!

2. I was quite weird as a kid. When kids my age wanted to become Doctors, Engineers and Scientists, I seemed pretty chilled out wanting to become an interior designer. I still think that’s the Coolest profession, but who would say they want to become one when they are 7 years old? 😛

3. I’m a morning person through and through. I can get up at even three in the morning but cant stay awake beyond 11 at night!

4. My dream honeymoon destination is Seychelles. I mean have you seen their beaches and resorts?? *Hear hear my prospective groom* 😛

5. I am quite the irritatingly animated talker you would meet. People say even if they mute me, they might understand more or less what I’m rambling about with just my expressions. Eyes and hands!

6. I have come to realize that more than writing my posts I’m liking reading others’ posts and commenting and interacting with them a tad bit more. Mind you, I’m pretty socially awkward person who never likes making the first move in real life but here I’m having no qualms making new friends. Yes blogging my-thing yo! LoL!

7. I’m pretty good at putting myself in others’ shoes and seeing situations from their perspective and I’m proud that I can do that. Feel like that makes me a better person 🙂
