Orange is the new Black – Part 4 (I swear this is the last part!)

So, roughly 20 posts ago I did three out of a four series post which had orange as the hero of the look. Do you remember? I won’t blame you if you don’t, I completely forgot about it myself 😝.
I thought now was the best time to complete this series because of three important reasons:
1. I got nothing else to show you guys
2. I got nothing else to show you guys
aaaand….
3. I got nothing else to show you guys!!!!
Hahaha. So buckle up to be tortured with this one. Yes yes I love y’all too. 😝😘

So for a change my tights were the element adding color to the costume. It was a lucky and a pretty find!. But I had to hunt for long to get a tunic to go with the tights. You know we enter this inescapable cycle of buying one piece of clothing and it just sees the darkest depths of our closet before we find its match? Well that’s exactly what happened to this tights 😝
I paired this dress with the same terracotta jhumkas I’ve shown you once before and the ethnic slippers which featured in my previous post.!

Hope you like the look. Have an amazing rest of the week y’all! Stay happy! 🙂

Some Statements here n there!

I, at long last, caved into this statement jewelry craze and bought two necklaces recently. Tada! Exhibit A

image

I wanted this necklace to really be the hero of the look today and hence decided to underplay the rest of my look. (To the extent that some people thought I forgot a jacket or some/any other dress completer back home 😂 Relax y’all her highness is not always strutting around looking like she has on her an entire shop. It’s called S-T-R-A-T-E-G-Y. 😜)
So…this is how I looked. Brace yourselves.

image

image

image

Yes I wore a white T-shirt blue jeans and white pumps and FYI all you enquirers about my dull outfit, the necklace WAS THE WINNER. Ha! 😜🙌

Anyway, moving on, to other random and just as useless things, I saw this picture recently and I loved it so much that I have been wanting to share it here for y’all to have a good laugh about and nod your heads vigorously in assent

image

That thing takes so long to nail perfectly it’s not even funny! 😒

Moving on one last time to my last bit of interesting news, I have started running 😍 I love running and I’ve been trying to track a very active running club in my city for a while now. I recently got hold of their number through a mutual friend and have started running with them. One word to describe it, EXHILARATING. ENERGIZING. EXUBERANT.. oh did i use more than one word? Hell yeah, that’s because I’m that excited about this thing. I ran 5.7kms on day one. Hopefully I better my performance tomorrow.

Goodnight (or good morning) and happy weekend! 😍

Oxidized jewelry and me!

I have for a long time realized my love for oxidized jewelry. I call it the zero maintenance jewelry. In fact the more careless you are at maintaining it, the more antique it looks! (Caution: don’t be careless enough and lose it though 😝)  I have, over the years, collected so many of these black metal pieces. In fact, two of them, I have been having from my fourth grade – that’s 15+ years now. 😍
This past week I have carefully worn my best oxidized jewelry to work to click pictures and to show you guys how chic they can be! So here we go!

Jhumkas:

The first jhumka especially never fails to solicit a lot of WOWs every time I wear it. And the best part, I bought it for real cheap while roadside shopping 👍

Chokers and Necklaces:

image

Oxidized jewelry are associated a lot with chokers and short necklaces in my country because they lend themselves so well to the pattern. Another growing trend is teaming them with black thread like this one:

Bangles:

One more piece of jewelry which attracts so much attention are these bangles. I love the intricate pattern on them and love how comfortable and antique they feel!

Other pieces:

The oxidized silver lends itself so beautifully well to other colors like this aqua blue beads. Oxidized gold jewelry is not as popular as its silver cousin but I love it all the same. And hoops and rings in this black metal look great with not-so-traditional garb as well! 🙂

That’s all from me folks! Have a brilliant weekend. Get lots of fun work done. Tell me how you liked this post and hope you stock up on black metal soon. Ciao! 💝

Straight from the Shoulder!

This weekend I’m teaching Idioms to the kids which the organization I volunteer at are associated with and that explains the reason for the idiomy title 🙄
(#funfacts : straight from the shoulder actually means being honest or frank 😝)
So, long long ago so long ago, a blogger friend had a post about a beautiful studded bag she had and I realized I had a similar backpack full of beautiful embroidery and I thought why not a post on that.!
Here it comes!!! 🎼🎶🎼

image

image

It is a black backpack with the flaps on the top and sides alone in white with a splash of colorful random but beautiful embroidery!

image

This bag is such a show stealer that I use it judiciously. When I’m dressed very well I give this bag the skip because it’s more likely that it will steal my thunder anyway 😜
Leaving you with some more images of the bag and the link to the site where I purchased it from 🙂

You can find this same bag here!

Have a nice weekend folks!

Spotty Friday!

Hey you guyssss!

image

Wazzzaaa!?! So I actually tried a trend from my imaginary checklist of trends-to-try and boy did I love it  say hey to animal prints! ✋
I just had to pose for a picture with my coolers on because they have animal print temples too ( yes the parallel beams on the shades which perch above your ears are apparently called temples. #thankyougoogle 😂)
So let me show you a complete version of the OOTD

image

image

This leopard print blouse has been lying in my closet untouched for quite a while now because I’ve been apprehensive about wearing it – courtesy – my mom. Every time I take this blouse out she does a perfect eye roll and goes like “why would anyone in their right minds walk around looking like an animal.” (I guess she completes the paragraph in her brain like “how creepy would it be if a leopard dresses up like a  human” …but yeah she doesn’t say it…and as long as she doesn’t, I’m happy 😝)
So I paired this printed top with my favorite pair of jeans I bought more than a year ago from Levis. Hope you trust me when I say this; there has not been a single pair of jeans which has fit me this well since my childhood.. Hahha. One thing I’ve learnt about jeans through the years is that we can equate it to buying sports shoes. Though the brand, the cut etcetera may be exactly the same, the fit sometimes differs, so the key is just definitely trying them on and checking as against buying them online or without actually trying them. Been there done that burnt my fingers and felt bad guys. So please don’t repeat that mistake!
And now introducing the best part of the outfit…ba-dum-tssss!!! My heels!!! I got these glitter heels recently and I absolutely love them to bits. I can strut in them for life. Yayyy…so comfortable yet sexy 😆

image

Lovely don’t you think? Hope you guys enjoyed the post and the animal print trend I tried. Tell me what you guys thought. 🙂

Scarfed and Bunned!

As much as I would love to think that my hiatus in the blogging world was a calm before the storm, its not true. I’ve just had nothing too exciting going on in my life, inspiring enough to blog about. I have also slipped into a phase where I’m merely recycling my old (most of them very boring too 😝) clothes, so an OOTD was out of question as well.
Yesterday however was different. I woke up very early so had plenty of time at hand and hence decided to try something different to work. And so, I tried the very famous “sock bun” 😍

image

image

image

I probably did not do a very neat job of it, (and I guess that’s mainly because I dont use hairsprays) but was nonetheless extremely proud of it (haha that’s me!!)
I used a ring bun instead of a sock because its easier and its a cheat trick to add volume to my hair! 😁. You can find the link to the video I followed to get this hairstyle here

So people at work started calling me “the airhostess” because I completed my look with a…*wait for it*..scarf!!! The look was so airhostessey that I couldn’t but just laugh at these jests because I did look like one after all!! 😂 So dont you guys want to see how I looked from the front?

Voila!

image

image

I got this scarf as a gift and I really love how versatile it is and how it instantly and completely adds so much vibrance to an otherwise dull look!

Do tell me what you guys thought about the hairstyle and the scarf!?! Have you guys scarfed up to make a boring outfit look colorful? I’m all ears ☺

Sisters Night Out!

Seeing the title, don’t get your hopes high. We are the most boring pair of sisters whose idea of crazy fun is going to a Vegetarian Italian restaurant in the city. XD FUN FUN FUN!
In our defense, the broccoli cheese ravioli and the pan fried mushroom starters there are to die for. So..yes. FUN FUN FUN!
It has been a while since I shopped so basically these days I’m digging into my closet and picking out long-forgotten pieces and trying to pair them right and make an outfit out of them.
So, in one such dig, I found these pair of bright (almost neon-y) peach crop pants. These were an impulse buy back in 2012 when color pants were ruling the roost and I have worn them exactly once (the day after I bought them to be precise). Guilt and the prospect of a new blog post made me try on these pants recently, and they fit just fine. However the color was an issue because as much as I love bright colors this was a bit too in-your-face bright for me, so I sobered it down with a plain black T-shirt. I must say this plain black Tee has become such a wardrobe staple for me. I should probably think of buying them in more shades because they go so well with pants and skirts! 🙂
Coming back, the black T-shirt did a good job of slightly toning down the peach pants and I was good to go! 🙂

image

image

image

I completed this look with this mad owl chain which I bought off the streets of Bombay look ago, a cross body bag which was almost the same shade as my pants (for some reason the color seems so different in photos) and my orange and green peeptoes 🙂

Normally this is where my post would have ended. However yesterday my sister asked me if she could share blog space with me and I was like HellYa!! :* ❤
My sister is five years younger than me. She is pursuing her mechanical engineering undergraduate degree in a college in my city. Just when I think her sense of style is too easy and laid back she churns out outfits which look so comfortable and yet so chic 🙂
So this was what she wore last night!

image

image

image

She wore a midnight blue with white stars blouse and paired it with these new formal tights she bought recently. They look very cool with gold zippers at the thighs and ankle. She shares shoe sizes with me so she wore one of my black heels to complete the look. Cute no? 😉

Well that brings me to the end of my post. Do tell me your thoughts on both the outfit. Have a happy lazy Sunday 🙂

Palazzo puh-lease-o!

Urgh I’m on a row with the title making part of my brain. 😛 Anyway, I have been very apprehensive about buying palazzo pants for sometime now because it was a trend I was having a constant love-hate relationship with. This is because I really envied tall leggy lasses strutting in palazzo pants everywhere while yours truly is short and hmmm..how do I put this delicately.. not so leggy or lassy. Hahaha..
But I recently saw one blogger, who told me she was also short, rock these pants and thus I gained confidence to buy one. And so I did, and so an outfit of the day post. 😀

image

I bought these beauties at FabIndia an amazing chain of stores in India.

image

Hahaha I swear to God this meme was already there on Google. So you can imagine what this store does to us Indians. What’s amazing about this store is that they adopt every trend in traditional Indian fabric to give it a Desi-Twist and all of us fall for it straight away 🙂

I ensured that they were extremely loose so that they looked almost like a long skirt (just in case I again start feeling palazzos are not my thing :/ )

I paired them with a plain black fitting t-shirt and wore my new violet pumps because…no reason…just because I love them 😛

What do you think about the look? Do tell me!

Pastels and Pops!

An outfit of the day post after really long!

image

Wore pastel over pastel over pastel to work today (that would be my top, trouser and shoes 😛 ) I simply love this simple boat neck top with delicate bead work all around its collar and sleeves. Because being sober and classy is just not in my blood I HAD to add some color to the outfit so I added this pretty bead necklace whose color was an darker shade of the lavendar of the top.

image

Yes, yes, when I smile…I SMILEEE. Hahaha!

While I personally thought my beads pretty much rocked the scene, some people *cough cough sister cough* felt the beads spoilt the whole look. Hellooo look how dull it looks without the necklace

image

image

What do you guys think of the look and about adding that sudden pop of color to be otherwise sober and sophisticated corporate attire?

One Chambray, Three Ways!

I have been waiting for really long to get nice pictures of my ombre top to name this post “Of Ombres and Chambrays” and sound all sexy, but I just wasn’t getting the right look with my ombre blouse :P. So here I present to you “One chambray, three ways!!” I saw this chambray top at one of our Indian stores a while ago and bought it because it looked good (polka dots on chambray? Yes please!!) and the price was very reasonable. But once I started wearing it, I realized chambray redefined comfort especially in a hot city like mine! With no further ado, let’s go on with the looks!
Look 1: Chambray over crop pants

image

image

I simply loved this look for its sheer comfort because these pants I got from M&S are ones which you can sleep, live or party in forever! XD
Accessories: light blue large circular studs (love them), my tan crossbody bag, and nude platforms

Look 2 : Chambray as a jacket

image

image

image

This look was created just moments before rushing to work because the T-shirt was a bit too colorful and casual even for the “Casual Friday” at work. Doesn’t the chambray add so much definition to the look? And no guesses about the pant! 😛 what!?! They are that comfortable ok?
Accessories: gold button sized earrings and white heels.
Psst…this look was a success at work 😀

Look 3 : Denim on denim look

image

image

image

Because I was into sports and dance all my life (barring the last couple of years) I was never the slender legged petite beauty! Hence I’ve always shied away from fitting skirts or dresses. But this denim skirt, a hand me down from my cool aunt, was too inviting to pass! So I threw caution to the wind and went on with the look anyway 😀
Accessories: Light blue smaller studs and my favorite Nike running shoes. Oh those neon laces! ❤

So what do you think about these three looks? Which one is your favorite and what would you pair chambray with? 🙂 Do tell me ❤
