This occasion calls for a…skirt! Wait..what?

Haha.. Me and my essay-ish titles! Well that’s that and now coming to the topic. Let me tell you guys something. In my country, India, people don’t show leg. No. Not many of them and not often. I don’t know why. That’s mainly why in all my post (well most of them at least) I’m in jeans or tights. But sometimes when you are going to some places you are quite confident you can pull off some leg showing without raising eyebrows and I was headed to one such place today and I thought why not? 😉
So…here I am…feeling skittish in a skirt. Wait now that would have made a better title wouldn’t it have? “Feeling skittish in skirt” Never mind. I’m going to let that be!

I had a really old extremely comfortable cotton dark cocoa brown skirt which I decided to pair with a light brown sheer top. Its a long tunic and hence I decided to tuck it into my skirt to get some shape.

I’m so excited about being able to incorporate a pop of pink throughout the look with my belt, my cross body bag and my shoes (the ones which featured for the first time in my previous post and was a smashing hit and made me feel like a boss and…never mind, I’ll brag some other time)

However, since my sister just didn’t agree with that pink popping in random places, I also tried another look. Mellowed the whole appearance down. Check it out.

The nude pumps and belt just made the whole outfit look different right?
Guess which look I went for? Wicket!! The first one of course.! Duh who doesn’t want a random color popping in the oddest places throughout their otherwise sane pairing of light and dark brown? 😛 Right?

Anyway, I have saved the best for the last because that’s what I do best. My idea of suspense and all. Guess who recently grumbled about lusting for gold watches? Me! Guess who bought a stunning gold watch at-long-last? Ba-dum-tssss yeah baby I did!!

Looks bloody brilliant don’t you think? That’s me admiring my watch. Hope you are doing just that too. 😀 Have a lovely Sunday!

All white everything! And then a PoP!

Hi y’all!! Really excited about this post because of what is in store 🙂
So, my Monday would have been the usual uneventful one if not for a parcel which came on Sunday which I released on Monday. The suspense killing you? I would like to think so! They were new shoes people!!! Yayyy.

I ordered shoes online for the first time and boy am I a happy-puppy 😛 . I have been avoiding purchasing shoes online forever because I was so apprehensive about size and comfort. But a friend assured me that online stores are really cool with trial and error and exchange. Also, I’m off-late realizing that you just dont get the variety in terms of patterns, colors and brands in physical stores as you do online. So this time, I just went for it. B-) It is just a case of following the instructions about how to measure your feet correctly and decide your size. I found really useful instructions here .
The most important tip to keep in mind is to measure both your feet because I found my left foot to be significantly bigger than my right.
Anyway. Let me talk no more 😉 Leaving you with the image of muh killer pumps yo! 😛 LoL!!!

I’m also attaching here the link to the site I made this buy from 🙂
I loved the way this neon polka dots on these pumps added that bright of pop of color to otherwise all-white attire.
I also wore a pair of the same shade of earrings to ensure that the color wasn’t totally irrelevant to what I wore. These are the same earrings I wore for this post !

So what do you think about my Monday OOTD. As usual I’m all ears. Do tell me ❤

P.S.: A shout out to my dear friend and colleague who so patiently puts up with all my antics and clicks my pictures. Thank you so much Preeti 🙂 without you half my posts wouldn't have been here and even so, they wouldn't have been half as good as they are now.

Orange is the new black! ~3

Welcome one, welcome all to part 3 of my 4 part post where I romance orange; which in my opinion is a weird color to fall so in love with. Well what can I say, weird people love such weird things. So here we are. 😀

This was one of those days when no one was around at home to take a snap and I had to do it myself 😦 hence the bad selfies.
This is one blouse which is so versatile. I wear it to work where it passes as formals when teamed with my black trousers and it transforms pretty easily as a party wear because of those frills and its general cuteness. 😛 haha.

So, I was heading for a fancy lunch (so I would like to think) last weekend and to get a bit dramatic, I paired this dress with a pair of earrings I absolutely love. A fairly recent acquisition I would say.

image

Its translucent, reflects light, very shimmery and looks good. 🙂 Thank god for the amazing stuff one can pick up street shopping in India. 😀
The shoes I wore is the same nude pumps I wore for my previous post. A photo for reference anyhow.

image

Since this is an orange which almost edges on nude there is so much room to get creative with makeup. So I decided to do an elaborate cat-eyes with eyeliner. Came out pretty decently for a first try I must say. But no pictures because such close selfies look plain scary. :/

image

I think this look is adorable gone awry by my poor photography skills. 😛 (Yes thats boasting covered by subtle insults..lol) Anyway what do you guys think? Do tell me 😉 ❤

Orange is the new black ~2

Hellooo all you lovely people! 🙂 how has your week been so far? My week…erm…let’s just say the lesser said the better. 😛
So as part two of my four part series I bring to you my second orange look 😀

So I bought this top from an Indian shop called “AND” a few months ago and the place I was going to this weekend seemed fun enough to release it 🙂 I tried a small mix-&-match, so I paired the halter neck top with something as traditional as the jhumka.
The jhumka is a traditional Indian earring worn by ladies for festivities and occasions. While it comes in various shapes, sizes and materials these days, they were originally made out of precious metals like gold and silver.
Coming back, so the current rage in my city is jhumkas made out of terracotta. When such adorable trends come by, why won’t I binge? Ofcourse I did 😀

image

They look pretty, yah? 😀
I kept the rest of the look simple. Since this blouse was pretty long, it covered my er..rather large behind 😛 so I chucked my jeans and wore it with a pair of super-comfy black above-the-ankle tights. These are truly the all purpose, fully exploited piece of clothing I own. Gym? Work? Casual outing? Shopping? I wear these tights every-frikkin-where. LoL.
The footwear was also pretty toned down. Wore these beautiful nude pumps I bought a while ago.

image

I love love luuurrvvee the cut work on these shoes 😀

Oh oh oh..and while we are at it, since my watch happened to match so beautifully with the look I thought why not show you guys that as well!

image

This fossil is one of my prized possessions 🙂 first gift to myself from my salary type of special!!! Its pink mother of pearl dial goes so well with any shade of pink, orange and red.

So what do you guys think? What would you pair halternecks with? Do tell me ❤

Orange is the new black! ~1

I’ve recently been stocking up too much of orange wear. Tell me, is it like in trend or something? Then my subconscious probably knows that and hence this orange overdose. 😛 so here is the first of four posts I’m going to do about my orange-craze. 😀

This first shirt is a tie-waist button-up type which I bought while street shopping. I thought it looked really cute with its white flowers and frills. Paired it with rose earrings and a really cool pair of pumps my friend once gifted me 😀
What do you guys think? Do tell me

Hand-me-down button-me-downs!

Button downs, in whatever size (preferably up to four sizes looser) whatever color whatever pattern I can lay my hands on, I grab!!! 😀
Though I made up this title only because I felt it was catchy (what a schemer I am >:D ) this button down shirt which happens to be my OOTD is not a hand me down. I found it while I was street shopping during the vacation I recently took. Though it looks old enough to be a hand me down , no one I know handed it down personally to me except maybe the shopkeeper but he seemed too fat to be able to get into this shirt (har har me and my slapstick jokes 😛 )
Without subjecting you to further torture let me just show you my look for the day.

Completed the look with the baubble chain I bought at Westside India, and a purple stud with intricate filigree work I bought at Colaba Cosway in Bombay 😀

Do you also horde on button downs, (and/or hand me downs for that matter! For me clothes are clothes..LoL!) or any such other staple clothing piece ? Do tell me, I would love to hear! ❤

Structured, sturdy and sexy!

Hi from the Structured Handbags Society (where the president, treasurer and secretary is all me >:D ). Managed to creep y’all well? 😛
Well, the creeping now being done and dusted, lets move on! I’ve had this recent love for these solid rectangular bags and I already have managed to add two to my never-gonna-end list 🙂
These bags give the perfect air of sophistication (which I otherwise seem to profusely lack) and manage to be uber-comfortable to carry around at the same time.
All this being said, I must add that these meanies are not a wise option if you are looking for roomy bags with lots of stuff to carry.
Leaving you with the images of both my lovely bags!

image

image

Sexy right? What do u think? Do tell me 🙂

P.S. : You aren’t allowed to comment on the fact that my lunch bag is bigger than my handbag. Okthankyoubye! 😛

Denim + denim!

A recent craze on which I over-binged was denim shirts. (Yes I bought three variations of the same frikkin trend :/ ) So my OOTD for the day is going to be the first of the many denim shirts to come 😛

image

image

image

It was casual-friday at office and I went all out with this rock-punk star look 😛 The folks at work were taken aback by this “rowdy” look but they learnt to live with it (they had a choice?)
I chose to wear this denim shirt which is approximately 7.25 sizes bigger than my size, (no, really, I’m not kidding!.) (Ok maybe I’m kidding a little bit :3 ) with skinny black jeans. I completed the look with black pumps, a silver metal watch and long chain with a blue pendant. I tried to completely tone down the rest of my look because I knew the loose shirt by itself was going to take a bit of getting used to by colleagues.!

What do you think of the look? Do tell me! 🙂

Six yards of love!

image

I present to you all the Indian tradional attire – The Saree. Six yards of fabric, one fabulous look 🙂
The typical Indian girl starts wearing a saree in her late teens and as she ages the saree becomes a wardrobe staple. Traditional or not, I’m of the opinion that the saree is the perfect cloth for a woman of any body shape or size simply because it so beautifully lends itself to any type of styling and it can be tied and worn in a completely sensuous way such as these actresses :

image

Or in simple modest ways like me 😛

image

Material: A saree can be made of pretty much any material with their prices varying with it. Right from silk to jute to fruit fibers (I once gifted my mom a banana fiber saree, it looked gorgeous btw 😛 ) the variety is abundant. That being said, we often stick to silk for occasions due to its grandeur.

image

That would be me in a silk saree for a wedding

Parts of a saree: A saree is worn with a blouse which covers the torso. It is wrapped around the waist and tucked into an body hugging skirt. While the lower half of the saree is called the pleats, the portion which comes above the blouse is known as the pallu or the pallav. Funnily, the pallu is, in most cases pleated and pinned up too.

image

That would be me with my sister and granddad at my cousin’s wedding 🙂

While I ve described how a saree would look when tied in a prim and proper sort of way, I’ve at times experimented quite a bit, be it by stitching fun blouses or by going all out and decking myself up in a very 70s heroine sort of way.
I’ll leave you with a few images of some of my other looks in sarees. 😀

image

image

By now you might have gotten a drift of my mad love for this attire. Before you get bored let me stop.! 😛
What did you think about this attire? Liked it? Do tell me 🙂

Bring on the bling :D

After a long vacation from work and a brief hiatus from blogging I’m back with my next fashion staple – “the gold chain”. I recently got this beautiful link gold chain from the US as a gift and it has quickly escalated to being very important person of my wardrobe. 😀
I am finding ways to wear it with any type of clothing. So much so that in my limited number of posts here it has already appeared twice 😛 . (See here and here)
It goes really well with formals

image

(That happened to be my OOTD too 😀 a vero moda blouse and a Marks and Spencers trousers 🙂 )
I simply loved pairing the chain with a casual top too.

image

And of course it goes pretty well with dresses as shown in my previous post.
One tip while selecting these chains is to ensure you know exactly the length you require them to be based on the usual depth of your neckline. Also, most chains come with adjustable lengths. So make sure you buy ones where such adjustments are possible.
Do you guys have such accessories which you pair madly with any type of dress? Do tell me 😀
